The 5th Nanjing Pancreas Forum was held successfully

Sponsored by Jiangsu Provincial Medical Association and Jiangsu Provincial Medical Association Pancreatic Disease Professional Committee, co-organized by the Pancreas Center of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University and the Pancreas Center of Minq Hospital of Nanjing Medical University. The 5th Nanjing Pancreas Forum was academically supported by Chinese Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery, Chinese Journal of Surgery, Chinese Journal of Practical Surgery and Chinese Journal of General Surgery 2022) and the Annual Meeting of the Pancreatic Diseases Committee of Jiangsu Medical Association was held on October 20-22, 2022. With pancreatic diseases as the theme, this conference invited domestic and foreign experts from various disciplines including pancreatic surgery, gastroenterology, critical care medicine, oncology and basic research to carry out in-depth discussions and exchanges on pancreatic diseases from different professional perspectives.
On October 20th, the Summit Forum of Perioperative Precision Management was held, which was sponsored by Chinese Journal of Digestive Surgery. Centering on the topic of "Innovative Technology and scientific Research in the field of Surgery", Professor Miao Yi from the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University was invited to share the topic of "A surgical diamond ring that combines exquisite art and science". Professor Chen Min, deputy editor-in-chief and editorial director of the Chinese Journal of Digestive Surgery, shared the experience of "improving the quality of medical papers and contributing skills". Around "Perioperative Patient Management and Scientific Research", Professor Wang Xinxin from Eastern Theater General Hospital was invited to give a lecture on "How to Do clinical scientific Research Well by Surgeons -- Taking Perioperative nutritional Treatment as an Example", and Professor Yang Tian from the Third Affiliated Hospital of Naval Medical University was invited to share "Research on characteristics and prevention strategies of postoperative recurrence of liver cancer". The conference also invited many experts and scholars to share their years of experience around the two topics, to expand the participants' scientific research ideas. At the same time, the 26th Academic salon of Jiangsu Pancreas Club was successfully held. The session invited Prof. Hu Lianghobx from Shanghai Changhai Hospital Affiliated to the Second Military Medical University and Prof. Lu Zipeng from the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University to give a lecture on the progress of diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic exoperine Malfunction (PE). Case sharing was conducted by Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital and the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University.
On October 21, the opening ceremony of the 5th Nanjing Pancreas Forum was delivered by Professor Miao Yi, Chairman of the conference, and Professor Liu Yanqun, Secretary-General of Jiangsu Medical Association, delivered the opening speech. The conference was presided over by Professor Jiang Kuirong.
Authoritative experts in the field of pancreas will be invited to give keynote speeches online and offline to interpret the latest research progress and share their valuable experience. In the first keynote unit, Christopher L. Wolfgang Professor of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine; Nicholas J. Zyromski Professor, Indiana University Medical Center; Min Li, University of Oklahoma School of Medicine, Professor Baiyong Shen, Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine presented “Surgical Strategies for Locally Advanced Pancreas Cancer”、 “ Necrotizing Pancreatitis – Management in 2022”、“ Precision Medicine for Pancreatic Cancer”、 “ Full life cycle management of pancreatic cancer”. And then, Professor Andrea Wang-Gillam from Washington University in St. Louis, Professor Jun Yu from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Professor Geng Xiaoping from the First and Second Affiliated Hospitals of Anhui Medical University respectively presented speech entitled "Applying Precision in Management of the Application Pancreatic Cancer ", "MMP7 is an Independent Predictor of Pathologic Response Utilizing FNA Specimen of Pancreatic cancer Ductal Adenocarcinoma ", "Is LPD the Everest of Pancreatic Surgery? ". Many distinguished experts from their respective fields of expertise, such as precision surgery, immunotherapy, molecular biology, etc., shared their views with the participants. Professor Markus W. Buchler and Professor John P. Neoptolemos, from Heidelberg University Hospital, presented “Applying Precision in Management of Pancreatic Cancer”、“ MMP7 is an Independent Predictor of Pathologic Response Utilizing FNA Specimen of Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma”, to bring the latest research results on Heidelberg triangle surgery and neoadjuvant therapy for the industry peers. Professor Jens Werner, from the University Hospital of Munich, Germany, presented entitled "Resection for Metastatic Disease -- Is it Justified? "Speech. in a keynote speech on "Updates in Management of the Transection Line After Left Pancreatectomy," Professor Miao Yi from the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, This paper summarizes the latest research results after the publication of ISGPS expert consensus guidelines on the Treatment of Pancreatic Stump after caudectomy, which was written by him. The speakers and reviewers had an in-depth discussion on their academic opinions, imparts the current cutting-edge knowledge of pancreatology to the participants, and guides the future development direction of the field of pancreatology.
The conference also selected many current research hotspots and focal topics in the diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic tumors and pancreatitis, such as: Treatment strategies for borderline resectable and locally advanced pancreatic cancer: conversion therapy priority vs. surgery priority, is endoscopic surgery appropriate for pancreatic cancer with venous invasion, and advanced pancreatic cancer with obstructive jaundice: Stent drainage vs. intraoperative drainage, well differentiated (G1/G2) pNET postoperative adjuvant therapy: observation of vs drugs, treatment strategies for pancreatic duct stones, debridement strategies for INP: What is the best approach to debridement, pancreatic surgery and postoperative management strategies how I do it, setting up a number of thematic discussions. Under the guidance of the host and comments guests, scholars from the departments of pancreatic surgery, gastroenterology, critical care medicine and oncology in China launched a fierce academic debate, triggering a lot of useful ideological collision.
On October 22, Professor Miao Yi's team and Professor Jiang Kuirong's team from the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University successively demonstrated open pancreaticoduodenectomy, and Professor Gao Wentao's team demonstrated live laparoscopic middle pancreatectomy. Meanwhile, Professor Chen Rufu's team from Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital demonstrated laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy and laparoscopic pancreaticocaudectomy. The surgeons' skillful surgical skills, smooth surgical coordination, and perfect surgical procedures impressed the audience and concluded the 5th Nanjing Pancreas Forum 2022.
