On October 31, the review of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS) and the awarding ceremony for Professor Yi Miao as FRCS was held in the new building of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University. On the day of the meeting, Professor O'Flynn, Chairman of the RCS Surgical Committee, Professor Nazir, Director of Quality Assurance and Certification, and Professor Nanu made a special trip to Nanjing to inspect the surgical training course in our hospital and specially issued a FRCS certificate to Professor Miao Yi. First of all, Vice President Dr. Yiyang Zhan extended a warm welcome to the experts of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and introduced them to the basic situation of our hospital, focusing on the clinical care, scientific research, teaching and social welfare of our hospital in recent years. Professor Yi Miao then made detailed reports on the composition of the surgical training center, the construction and training projects of the training center, the surgical curriculum, quality control, and the future outlook. Among them, Professor Miao made a more detailed plan for the development of the training center in the next three years, mainly including: (1) Continue to maintain a leading position in the country to better serve young doctors around the country and even doctors outside the province, and effectively expand the center , especially investing more in continuing education. (2) Continue to serve as a top training center, establish standardized curriculum organization, establish a quality management system for the educational process, and deepen international exchanges to improve curriculum quality. (3) Promote the composition of the course teacher team, the teacher selection system based on the teaching feedback tracking system, pay attention to the construction and training of teacher teams, provide training opportunities at home and abroad, and continuously train and optimize teacher resources. The Royal College of Surgeons of England was established in England and Wales in 1493 and was finally established in 1800 under the Royal Charter. RCS is the oldest, most well-known and most authoritative surgical specialist training organization and management organization in the world. The Royal College of Surgeons of England has not only formulated a wide range of applicable training system for surgical specialists, training course system and training effectiveness evaluation standards, but also the pioneer and innovator of the examination system for surgical specialists, and successfully promoted the system to different countries. At present, the training and assessment system of the Royal College of Surgeons of England has been applied in dozens of countries around the world.

The surgical training center of our hospital was recognized by RCS, which indicates that we have achieved certain achievements in surgical training, as Professor O'Flynn and his party commented, “This is the best surgical training center we have seen”.
