Published on:2016-07-03   Views:432

On July 2nd, the 3rd “We Are All in This Together for Life” Pancreatic Disease Patient Gathering was held in the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University. Attending patients were enthusiastic despite the heavy rain.

Jiang Kuirong, the vice director of the Center delivered a speech for the opening ceremony. He extended his appreciation to all the patients who came to attend from afar despite the heavy rain, and wished that everyone could harvest more knowledge and strengthen the communications between doctors and patients.

Director Li Qiang delivered a lecture named as “the Handling of Post-Pancreatic Operation Dyspepsia”. He introduced the causes to post-pancreatic operation dyspepsia and how to treat it with pancreatic enzymes by explaining the anatomical structure of pancreas, pancreas pathophysiology and pancreatic exocrine functions.

Afterwards, Doctor Cai Baobao introduced some basic knowledge regarding pancreatic tumors with a lecture named “Pancreatic Tumors, Our Common Enemy”. He explained that smoking, drinking and overeating are all possible factors that may lead to pancreatic tumors. Only 10% to 25% patients who are clinically diagnosed with pancreatic tumors can take operation as an option since the tumors are hard to be timely discovered, and the cure rate is extremely low, indicating the importance of early diagnosis.

An old man went to stage and improvised a poem to extend his appreciation to the faculty of the Center. Xiao Fang, the hostess of the show, Xiao Fang’s Healthcare Network of Nanjing Economy Radio Station, was invited to the gathering. She went to stage and shared her feelings with all of us after the first half. She believed that this gathering is good platform for communications, which is good for doctors and patients to build a bridge, strengthen communications and fight against the disease together.

There was a segment in the gathering when experts provided medical services for patients. All patients went to the doctors they know asking questions.

Hopefully with the gathering for pancreatic disease patients, more innovative and scientific health information can be spread out, leading more pancreatic disease patients to focus and enjoy convenient medical services, and communicate with other patients. We are all in this together for life!
